Maybe, when CHS is open completely, the concentration of students from the gym entrance won't be so great?  Right now, students can only use the gym entrance because they can't get into the other parts of the school to use other exits. (that have easy access to the street)
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Now that so many children are coming from other parts of the city, the students must have someone drive to the west side to pick them up after extracurricular activities.  Perhaps it would have been better if the doors from the gym faced onto the back parking lot.  In that way, the waiting parents' cars would be in the parking lot where they should be.   I guess the extensive use of automobiles was not properly taken into account when the building was designed.

I agree with you.  Some student is going to be hit by passing traffic on Overlook some dark evening as he crosses the street to get to his ride home.

It has always been a problem.  It must be getting worse?
The kids walk across the street without looking. Cars are lined up everywhere.
Also the young drivers sometimes get impatient and zip around erratically... accident waiting to happen.
The entrance is now on the side.
When it was on the corner people dropped and picked up from both Hazelwood and Overlook.
It was conjested then as well but now it is even worse on Overlook.
Does anyone at YBOE think about traffic before they go ahead with plans?... the new West is also a nightmare.
Cars backed up on Schenely almost to Mahoning.
Anyone who experienced the old West  could have given them vital imput on what to do about traffic flow at the new building.

Many complaints are being received about traffic jams on Overlook Avenue next to Chaney High School.  Cars are parking on both sides of the street even though there are "No Parking" signs posted.  This problem is worse when parents are picking up students after school or later in the evening when the parents wait for students after sporting events in the new gym.
