Ok I'm confused now!

John Vivo is the candidate, and he owns a floral shop on the south side.
It's James Vivo in this article, and he also owns a south side floral shop.

Brothers?

Towntalk

I'm confused, is his name James or John?

Peggy Gurney

Who, James Vivo, the newly endorsed democratic 7th Ward council candidate?

Two names pop up in this WKBN story ... one we need no comment on, but the man's name and occupation ring a loud bell and needs clarification.

That would be disastrous but I'm not sure the mayor would allow that

No, he would not.

Yes towntalk that could happen

Are you suggesting that the new council will throw the 4th Ward under the bus? Mark this though, Anita Davis may be the next chair of the Finance Committee and you can bet that she'll divert as much money to the 6th as she can get her hands on while cutting funds to the 4th; 5th; and 7th Wards.

I am just being realistic. The quality of opponents isn't the highest for this primary. The independent running has a real shot
look at the 6th Ward
Christine silvestri would be a wonderful council person but has a long shot to win.  Not only is most of the 6th African American but Anita Davis now got the endorsement.  If Anita wins everyone who is a little qualified in the 6th should be kicking themselves as to why they didn't run
All in all I feel bad for Mike Ray, he is gonna be screwed next four years

This is news to everyone about the taxes. I don't think anyone knew but obviously his opponents did
The issue is the endorsement process isn't about who is the best but it is a popularity contest.
Vivo has been around forever and people know and like him.  That's why he won the endorsement and now every Democrat will now vote and help him
All in all, John is a wonderful person with some obvious issues
Who is really going to challenge him?
Also now. The party is mandating that if you don't help him you will be called out
2016 is looking scarier by the minute for ytown city council
PD c'mon they had to have known about his tax woes. Even I knew!
He got the endorsement because, as one 7th ward candidate stated "He was the previous county party secretary and knew all the back doors to winning the party endorsement"

I just can't imagine that he'll actually win.

I read the Vindy article - sad, very sad the quality of character of some of those
being endorsed by the Democratic party.  Tax delinquencies are a matter of public
record, so due diligence should have prevailed prior to giving the endorsement.
A child with internet access could have discovered a lot of this stuff.

Sadder still is all of the pi##ing and moaning by those who insist that the Democrats
have some kind of unbreakable monopoly on public offices in the area, when the current
Republican leadership is making no serious effort to find qualified candidates with integrity
and a solid record of achievements and demonstrated competency serving the public.

Voter turnout is also horrible in the area.  Everyone wants to complain about this politician
or the other, crime, corruption, whatever - but so few people are willing to come out and vote.

Candidates with unpaid taxes and indicted office holders

There has be a better way for the Democratic party to find worthy candidates.
What's even worse is the Republican party can't find a single candidate to run for these city council seats.

:P

Peggy Gurney

I just can't believe that the party actually endorsed him, when they had at least 4 other responsible, experienced candidates to choose from.
Unbelievable.
