The Kasich administration has initiated a secret campaign to promote fracking through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources while working through ODNR and elsewhere within state government to destroy dissent.  Read the complete article hyperlinked below, which appeared in the Saturday Columbus Dispatch.

Especially troubling is this paragraph from the article:

    >>> The memo also warned about the need to overcome "zealous resistance by environmental-activist opponents who are skilled propagandists." Opponents of hydraulic fracturing would "attempt to create public panic" about possible health risks, brand the policies of Gov. John Kasich as "dangerous and radical," and "attempt to legally and physically disrupt or halt the drilling projects, including staging dangerous protests on state lands." The latter would necessitate "sustained legal countermeasures and crisis readiness" by the state. <<<

     I suggest to you that "sustained legal countermeasures and crisis readiness" translates that there is a significant police spying effort underway, accompanied by infiltration into enviro groups, somewhere, probably in the Ohio State Patrol and probably coordinated through a federal Homeland Security "fusion center." This would not be new: in 2010, the investigative news site Pro Publica published a leaked intelligence bulletin of the Pennsylvania Department of Homeland Security that rated peaceful, nonviolent anti-fracking and anti-mountaintop removal activists as terrorism and security threats.

    It is probable that the Kasich admin's insistence that this ODNR plot never took off is utter bullshit. Such things as turning out dozens of cops, plus police canines, to provide "security" last fall at an ODNR injection well public information meeting near Youngstown are unmistakable evidence of the bunker mentality at ODNR and in the governor's office. It is impossible not to believe that surveillance by police intelligence is going on and that Kasich and his corporate slattern staff are hoping like crazy that there are no leaks or breaches of security that expose it.

    The ODNR memo setting up this program was disclosed by two Democratic state legislators who are named as enemies of Ohio's corporate state. Neither are especially firebrand anti-frackers.  Consider the significance of that. This is not a Democrat-Republican thing, it is another ominous sign of the establishment of a corporatocracy in Ohio.

    Kasich's lackeys predicted that we enviros would "panic" the public with [our authoritative and documented] allegations about the health and environmental damage from fracking.  And we are demonized as "propagandists."
