Trip down memory lane for our older West Side folks.

Back in the mid 1920's the Mahoning Theatre not only became the West Side's first theatre, but it also served as a community center. It wasn't a fancy theatre, and indeed it was small, seating about 300 people.

In my high school days at Chaney I recall seeing several movies there, and was really not impressed by it since I was use to seeing movies at the downtown theaters, but while doing some research about local radio stations, my memory was jogged by seeing ads for the Mahoning on the theater pages of The Vindicator.

By the 1970's, the Mahoning was showing Adults Only movies, and was later demolished, but I wonder if any of the old-timers on the West Side remember The Mahoning?
