BREAKING NEWS

PATERNO and the Penn State President FIRED.

Legendary Penn State coach Joe Paterno and school President Graham Spanier have lost their jobs effective immediately, university trustees announced.

Paterno said earlier in the day that he would retire at the end of the season. Critics had called for him to resign because of his response to allegations brought to him in 2002 by a graduate assistant, who said he had seen retired defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, now 67, sexually assaulting a young boy in a shower at the campus football complex.

Paterno reported the allegations to his boss, and Pennsylvania's attorney general said it appeared Paterno had met his obligations under state law.

Sandusky is accused of sexual offenses, child endangerment and "corruption of a minor" involving eight boys, prosecutors said. Two Penn State officials are accused of failing to report the alleged abuse.

The U.S. Department of Education said earlier Wednesday that it will la unch an investigation into whether Penn State properly reported crimes on campus.

If you are  told that a 58 year old man was seen raping a 10 year old boy you

believe that you really shouldn't report that to the police?

So Sarge and Rick, if someone sees or has information on say, somebody  seen
raping a loved one of yours, you don't believe that person should come forward and report
it to the police?

Man, you neo-cons love to bury your heads in the sand when it comes to doing the decent and moral thing.....

From what I understand the coach was told by a Grad Student, who is now an assistant coach and witnessed something. The coach then reported what he had been told to his boss. What more was he to do? He could have asked the actual witness to report it to the police. But other than that there is nothing........... BTW I haven't heard any talk about the actual witness leaving the University staff......

This is an example of a situation where the seriousness of the charge outweighs the nature of the evidence.  Whatever happened to the assumption of innocence until PROVEN guilty?  I guess we are all now guilty until we prove ourselves innocent?

While he did not commit the crime....if he has helped cover it up he is morally guilty.....

If he was told in graphic detail what happened in the shower with his former assistant coach and 10
year old boy....and he didn't go to the police......yes, he is guilty of a crime.....

But Ytowner's response doesn't surprise me.....being a neo-con GOPer.......he belongs to a political faction
who believes Nixon did no wrong with Watergate....believes Bush Jr. was right to invade Iraq on false information of WMD's...
and believes Cain is right to blame the poor and unemployed for the woes of this country......

Neo-Con GOPers see the world in rose-colored glasses......the truth and what is morally right escapes them....

Ytowner probably voted YES on Issue 2 as well.....

Ytowner's response shows he is clueless on what is morally right to do in this country.....typical of a caring conservative....
and he went to Ursuline? wow!

ytowner

That is complete bull shit. He didn't commit the crime.

Penn State Said to Be Planning Paterno's Exit

Joe Paterno's tenure as coach of the Penn State football team will soon be over, perhaps within days or weeks, in the wake of a abuse scandal that has implicated university officials, according to two people briefed on conversations among the university's top officials.

The board of trustees has yet to determine the precise timing of Paterno's exit, but it is clear that the man who has more victories than any other coach at college football's top level and who made Penn State a prestigious brand will not survive to coach another season. Discussions about how to manage his departure have begun, according to the two people.
