Some Moving Planet participants stopped by the North Side Farmers' Market on Saturday.  The goup of cyclists also toured several north side vegetable gardens.

Join Thousands of Climate Rallies across the Globe and in Youngstown on Bicycles

The people in the community of Youngstown will bike far and eliminate the car for solutions to pollution and climate change on September 24th for "Moving Planet".

Youngstown, OH- Rain or shine environmentally aware and concerned citizens will unite: On September 24th a mass bike ride and rally will occur throughout Youngstown. The bike ride and rally will be addressing the pollution problem from the use of dirty energy and fossil fuels. Cyclists and activists will be touring and acknowledging different gardens, neighborhoods, and sustainability efforts in the city.

WHAT: Bike ride and rally to decrease pollution from dirty energy and fossil fuels and increase climate control. The event is part of "Moving Planet", which is a worldwide movement occurring on the September 24th, 2011- calling for the world to go beyond fossil fuels.

WHO: Family, friends, neighbors from the community of Youngstown, organizer Jenny Jacobs, gardens and businesses throughout Youngstown, 350.org http://350.org

WHERE: Starting point Crandall Park Pavilion - Youngstown, OH

WHEN: 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.: Pre-event: sign, banner, bike decorating at Crandall Park Pavilion
    12:00 P.M.: Cyclists meeting at Crandall Park (bicycle safety discussion)
    12:30 - 2:30 P.M.: Bike ride and rally throughout Youngstown visiting gardens, neighborhoods, and sustainability efforts 
    3:00-7:00 P.M.: Pot Luck gathering with food, lively conversation, speakers answering questions and giving advice, and live music by Tangerine Coyotes, The Knowledge Drop-out, and Absolom

A mass amount of people are expected to travel throughout Youngstown on bikes wearing decorated shirts and signs that call for action against pollution. Plus, making stops to spread the word and learn from speakers around the valley.

The Youngstown Moving Planet event is part of a worldwide day of action calling for an end to the fossil fuel addiction. Hundreds of thousands are expected to participate in events across the globe. In Ohio that includes events in Athens, Kent, Cleveland, Akron, Cincinnati, and more. All events worldwide are using methods of fossil fuel free transportation to demand solutions to pollution and climate change at all levels.
