Labor wins one in SW Ohio

It's really a shame that the Council members lost their nerve, they were doing the right thing.  Unfortunately public workers can kick and scream all they want but unionization will ultimately be in their past, not their future. I don't know of a single governmental entity in Ohio that is fiscally sound. They are all being devoured by the unions. Look at the farce in Youngstown where the Police Chief will walk away with a check of nearly $500,000 dollars and a great pension. He then has the nerve to suggest that he be hired back.  Who the hell came up with this idea of allowing safety forces to have their pensions put in an interest bearing account while they continue working for eight years. If that doesn't tell you that the system is irreparably broken what does?

Cities all over the country are collapsing. Eventually they will have no choice but to pronounce themselves bankrupt and go out of existence. Eventually they will reorganize, but it will be without a unionized workforce. I'm afraid they've killed the "goose".

Middletown City Council Votes to Pull Collective Bargaining Resolution After Strong Opposition from Workers, Citizens: 

Over one hundred workers and Middletown citizens packed the Middletown City Council meeting Tuesday to show their opposition to a proposed resolution that would have put services at risk and endangered the rights of workers across Ohio.  After hearing comments from workers and citizens, Council members, lead by Councilman A.J. Smith, voted 6-1 to table the measure. 

"We applaud the Middletown Council members who took a strong stand tonight in support of our community and the middle class," said Jon Harvey, International Association of Fire Fighters Local 336 President, which represents Middletown fire fighters.  "As a proud fire fighter, I hard work everyday to provide the best services to residents in Middletown and Butler County.  This resolution would have put our services at risk by taking away a process that has provided stability and cooperation between workers and local, county and state government agencies."
