Study: Fossil fuels get 5 times more government cash than renewables
The fossil fuel sector nets five times as much global government aid as the renewable-energy sector, according to an International Energy Agency study of global energy subsidies. During 2009, the oil and gas sectors bagged $126 billion and $85 billion, respectively, while wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and marine technologies combined received a combined $57 billion in government assistance.
