One candidate for governor openly talks about taxes as the way out of budget crisis
Most Ohio legislators and statewide officeholders are steering clear of the "T" word when it comes to a solution to the projected $4 billion to $8 billion dollar money hole in the next state budget. But that's helping one candidate for governor stand out. Dennis Spisak is the Green Party hopeful, and he's not shy about calling for higher taxes. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Bill Cohen, Spisak says lawmaker should start by wiping out the part of the recent four year cut in the state income tax that went to the wealthy.
Spisak says if legislators rely on spending cuts alone to plug the projected multi-billion dollar shortfall in the next state budget, it would be too devastating for programs that help children, the poor, and the elderly.
