jay and others on this board if you think for one time that council is concern about the orgin of product everyone is kidding themselves. more than once did the great savior of ytown mayor "J" made it known that he shops for the best price for the city on the cheap that he never thinks about the american worker and he will never will while he is a closet case republican.

If Council is to be concerned with country of origin, it may turn out to become an issue of buying vs. not buying.  This product may not be available domestically.

I just looked at the Winner website, and the Door Club is available for $24.99.  It weighs 4.5 lbs. and all of the parts are metal, meaning that it is selling for $5.55/lb.  That seems way too cheap to have been made in the US, especially since the parts have been brass plated.

It is a simple design and a local fab shop could create a similar product that does the same job, except without the bells and whistles.  However its most likely under patent and if that were tried our good friends at Winner International would file a patent infringement suit against us.

This was my concern.
Every time that I looked at the "club" for cars, it was made in an asian country.

I wonder if any of the councilmen will ask about the country of origin before they vote for this expenditure.

Thank you for the information Rick.

By the way did you see the bio on Homer Hamilton that I posted?

Winner does not make the Club in Sharon.  They are imported as far as I know.  But I do not believe that Mayor Williams would make a conscious decision to only specify products made in a third world country.  The decision to purchase was probably based upon price and Winner's reputation as a leading supplier of such devices.

Does anyone know as an absolute fact that Winner International of Sharon, Pa. products are not made in Sharon, and can  or will you site your source with a link?

According to a story in today's newspaper, Youngstown City Council will vote on Wednesday to spend almost $5,000 to buy "door clubs" for senior citizens.

Where are the "door clubs" manufactured?
if mayor j has the final say on this matter it would be made by someone living in a hut making a dollar month. fast and cheap is his game when it comes to security in ytown.
