Last year about six wells went in within a couple miles of my house.  The drill rig was in there for about a week, and after that the holding tank and wellhead inside a 20' x 20' fenced in area was all that was left.  What toxic chemicals are used to drill for gas?  Are you making that up?  I am all for gas exploration.  Until your "alternate" energy sources become practical we need to maintain supplies of the current energy sources that we now use.  I am all for oil and gas exploration.

Actually we have gas wells within the City of Youngstown, at least one that I know of on the South side.

The beaches of Lake Erie, Hocking Hills State Park, Mentor Marsh State Nature
Preserve -- these are some of Ohio's true treasures that we want to preserve
forever.

But this week, Ohio's state senators proposed to open up ALL of Ohio's remaining
public lands to the oil and gas industry. The good news is we can stop this
"drill baby drill" proposal in Ohio's House of Representatives. But we'll need
to act fast.

Senate's shortsighted oil drilling proposal.

While less than 1 percent of Ohio's landscape is completely protected from oil
and gas drilling, the industries never seem satisfied. This time, they made a
sneaky maneuver, and lobbied the state Senate to include their drilling proposal
in Ohio's state budget bill.

As I'm sure you know, oil and gas drilling is dirty, dangerous stuff. The
industry uses toxic chemicals to pull gas out of the ground -- putting nearby
water and wildlife at risk. Not to mention that our few pristine hiking trails
would be threatened by drill pads and columns of roaring diesel trucks. Is that
really what we want for Hocking Hills?

We want the oil and gas industries to keep their dirty hands and deep pockets
away from Ohio's last protected areas.

Senate's shortsighted oil drilling proposal.
