I think the Operation Ceasefire program will strive to do exactly what you have described (with harsh penalities attached for non-compliance). More to follow...

i would like to see the mayor establish on going relationship with the gangmembers in the handel's blockwatch area. these southside gangs are the main reason that the southside is the shithole it is today. tarpley and williams must establish an ongoing dialogue with these young men and women in the dale boys area. mayor gavin newsom of sf, ca. has weekly meetings with gangmembers in their territory without any police protection, the newyorker did an article on newsom in the may issue '05. tarpley and williams should read the article or talk to newsom himself about his friendship with these young girls and boys that are at risk. it can be done. the southern blvd block watch under the leadership of maggy lorenzi did such that and had progress with the neighbors in the dale boys area. i do not know as today if the dialogue is ongoing but it was established by that blockwatch.

6th Ward Town-Hall Meeting
"Establishing A New Block Watch" is the subject of a 6pm town-hall meeting Wednesday at the Newport Library, 3730 Market St.

The session is sponsored by Councilwoman Janet Tarpley, D-6th. Target areas for the proposed block watch include Midlothian and Southern boulevards, and Judson, Hilton, Ravenwood, Lucius, LaBelle and Auburndale avenues.

Tarpley said this is an opportunity for residents in those areas to voice their opinion regarding issues that are occurring in the neighborhood and the ward.

The Southern Boulevard Block Watch usually meets at St. Dominic's Social Center.

Anyone have any info:
Does 6th ward ever have citizen's coalition meetings, like 7th ward does?
Are there any active block watches in 6th ward?
