I watched the news. The hog weed was found near Andover, Ohio.   None here   but a rare rodent is here a hedge hog that has been acknowledged by Dave Nelson from the Humane Society.

I'm worried about this weed. I'm in landscaping and this weed sounds almost like it has some sort of acid in it. I guess it can cause 2nd degree burns. Not happy at all. I think Youngstown at the very least should send out information about it so people know the dangers. I myself will be looking it up online and finding as much info as I can. I knew one day the nightmare weed would come to take me out, it's revenge for pulling its cousins all these years  .

I know this doesn't sound like an important topic to some, but the hogweed could soon pose a public health hazard in our area.  The city should be ready to protect its citizens from this potential problem.  After all, the city of Youngstown currently has a mosquito control program which helps to stop the spread of west nile virus and other diseases carried by mosquitoes.

Hogweed made the local tv news today.  It is a non-native plant whose sap contains a substance toxic to human skin.  The plant has been found in Ashtabula and Columbiana counties.

A few days ago, the Vindicator ran a story about other foreign plants which are displacing Ohio's native plants.

Should the city of Youngstown undertake a program to eliminate these invading plants?
