The East Side erupted in gunfire again today, July 1.   YPD cars are reported to have been hit by some of the gunfire.

If anyone has ideas to stem the violence, please give us your suggestions.

An East Side neighborhood was turned into a war zone as police were pinned down by gunfire that spurred the call for M-16's and all the ammo that the city had.

At least one person was wounded as gunfire erupted shortly after 10:30 PM Thursday at 1451 Victor Avenue.

Police from Youngstown, Austintown, Canfield and Milton and the Mahoning County Sheriff's office broke out M-4s and M-16's "and all the ammunition you can get" and set up a staging area in a church parking lot at Victor and Commonwealth before trying to answer what was called a major shootout at a public housing complex.
