Convicted former Smith Twp. police chief released 9 months early

After just three months of a year-long prison sentence, a former police chief convicted of theft in office is being released early.  Forty-eight-year-old John Siranovic, the former police chief of Smith Township, was granted judicial release during a court hearing on Wednesday.  Siranovic was convicted in 2018 on charges of grand theft and theft in office.  As conditions to his release, Siranovic must find employment, and perform 40 hours of community service.
