I still think it would be a great community area... and it wouldn't take that much work either. We have even come up with some artist renderings of what all could be done in community park form there.

The question is when. Mount Calvery has been talking about it for at least five years and hasn't done anything yet. It's high time that they did something or turned the land back over to the city. I'm sure that Mill Creek Metro Park would jump at the chance to get that land if for nothing else than to put a picnic area and parking, since the old Idora Park overlooks Mill Creek Park.

The Idora Park property is currently owned by a church which has its own plans for turning the land into a religious community.

Are there any plans in the works to do something with the former Idora Park?  Now that everything has been demolished (or burned to the ground), I'd think it would be easy to convert the land into a community park, with a memorial to the original amusement park.  It would definitely be an asset to the community and hopefully help Youngstown to shed some of those abandoned, rotting amusement park images.
