Our WRTA folks should also be looking at Summit County's bus system. I was doing business in Stow, Ohio last week and probably didn't go over a mile withouf seeing a bus stop sign for specific routes.

If they can do it, why not us?

If not now, when?

In Stark county, they use these kinds of buses for the smaller routes.  I think SARTA http://www.sartaonline.com/ should be the model for the WRTA if the sales tax passes this time.

But, I've heard Jim Ferarro on the radio state that they don't like to use them because maintenance costs are higher.  They aren't as durable as the larger buses.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Jay:

These are the types of vans I suggested when I talked about van transit for the city.

I find it hard to believe WRTA doesn't have the funds or ideas to run these vans for speciaal occasions like all the events that were happening in Youngstown this past Saturday.

You're right about the need for transportation on the weekends and late nights, Jay.  I would love to park my vehicle after work and take advantage of the bus service to get downtown for evening and weekend activities.  I wish the trolleys would run from place to place downtown and possibly up to YSU.  Maybe we'll pass the WRTA levy this time around.

There are plenty of smaller buses available for transit use in the city of Youngstown.  These three were parked at YSU near Fifth Avenue this past weekend.  All we need to do is find some funds to put these vehicles on the road to transport city residents on weekday evenings and on Saturdays.
