While going through my photo library this afternoon I came across a couple of 1889 photos of the Youngstown Police Department and uploaded them to my webshots web site: http://community.webshots.com/user/ladynews500. The second photo is a real hoot in that the first patty wagon was just that ... a horse driven wagon like a farmer would use to haul his crops to market. In the case of the Police used it to haul prisoners to the Calaboose as the city jail was known in those days.

The jail was located directly behind the Mayors Office and Police Station at the corner of South Hazel and West Boardman Street.
