I understand people's frustrations on the high grass, but enough is enough. Get off your duff and cut it. If you really take pride in your neighborhood, then set an example. Why does everyone expect the government to do for them what they can do themselves.

Regarding the tree, get your councilman involved and don't let go until he/she gets the problem solved.

A woman at the 2010 Garden District meeting told the audience about a problem in her neighborhood on South Whitney.   The grass at a vacant home had not been cut this year.  The structure was tagged with an orange sticker to indicate the grass ordinance violation.  During a recent storm, strong winds blew over a tree on the devil strip.  The tree now leans against the house and is also blocking the sidewalk.

What is this neighobrhood supposed to do to solve the problem?  The grass can't be cut until the tree is removed.  Who is going to cut the tree?

Believe it or not!  The house is behind the fallen tree in the picture posted below.
