In the DRUDGE REPORT right now are three stories about teenagers totally out of control in three different cities that were holding June Teenth events Needless to say all three ended in violence. This is exactly why folks are fearful of coming to events in downtown Youngstown. True, there have not been reports of trouble at any local events, but nothing anyone here can say will ease the fears that people have of downtown Youngstown, especially if they have to drive through the South or East Side to get there, and now with reports of problems on the West Side that just compounds the problem.

We can talk till the cows come home about the good things people are trying to do, but that will not in itself change the perception in the minds and hearts of people, and until this city can show positive results time and time again, downtown events will continue to suffer.

Thank goodness for Powers, Oakland and the Chevy Center, at least at these events we can draw people into the downtown.
