BIG acreage surrounding Gray st, what is the address?

jay

The problem for the east side residents is that permits were not obtained prior to the chickens being kept on the property.

This is from the flier that is being distributed on the east side.

[Please contact 2nd Ward Council person T.J. Rogers.
Tell him to protect our property by insisting that the city abide by the zoning codes and remove those animals from Gray St., "NOW"!]

Most likely the same troublemakers that gave Ron such a bad time. I only regret that I can not use the sort of language I would like to use.

There are large areas of undeveloped land on the East Side of Youngstown... there is no reason why
some kind of compromise cannot be reached, here.  If someone wants to set up an urban farm and
they can pick a patch of land that is not too close to neighboring houses (ie: NOISE problems, etc)
then WHY NOT?

It's not like there are a thousand developers standing in line just waiting to buy up all of this land
and build something on it tomorrow, next month, next year, etc.  Having locally grown eggs and
poultry could be a GOOD thing for the city.  For one, locally grown would most likely mean CHEAPER
and FRESHER.

The city could make some zoning changes for SELECT areas that are suitable for farming, and won't
conflict with the neighbors.   Farmers producing on such land would also be TAX PAYERS - both
sales and property taxes.

They would also purchase feed and supplies from local area businesses.

Apparently several residents on the east side possess live chickens even though they do not have the permits to keep and raise them.   A citizens' inquiry is in progress.
