She was a singer and did comedy. She is credited with discovering Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Her husband and manager would also represent Bill throughout his whole career.

... don't know what she was most famous for, though

 If I were to mention Rae "The Blue Streak" Samuels who can tell me what she was famous as? By the way, her hometown was Youngstown.
