I'll try to reach him today, I believe his number is in the phone book.

Dennis is a member ... irishbobcat ... but he hasn't been posting lately, but someone could get word to him and I know just the person ... Ron.

As I said, (not to brag) this was an idea that came to me as a way of helping the station, so it would have to go through the station management.

Lyndz

is Dennis on this forum? He wants to do a membership drive right? I'd love to meet with him or the station and see what we can do.

I don't know if the station is equipped to do remotes, but that's not a bad idea, and instead of using a restaurant for the record hop, it could be held outdoors, with a second location as a backup such as 20 Federal Plaza West. The one fly in the ointment is that if it's tied in with another event, how could we ask the restaurants to donate a portion of their sales to the statiion. I'm sure that there are a number of worthy Slavic groups that could use the event as a fund raiser such as the church that is raising funds to restore windows.

The event that I invisioned was to center around WKTL, and if it were a part of a larger event, especially an event that already will have live music, it would not get the participation that it should get otherwise.

It should be a stand alone event, that way the restaurants would be more likely to help than if it was comingled with a larger event.

The city use to have Friday night downtown events, and this event could easily fit into that mold.

An event already exists.  It's Youngstown's Simply Slavic Festival which takes place this year on Saturday, June 15, on East Federal Street in downtown Youngstown.

Most of the WKTL ethnic groups are part of this festival.  All we need to do is see if the station could broadcast live from the Simply Slavic Festival.

It is due time innovation flows again from Youngstowners, it has been missing for so long.  You go TT, good job!

Lynds, take a look at the "Dennis and WKTL" thread for a possable event for downtown.

If you could do anything with this please let us know.

Note: This is not a proposal from the station, but from the station's supporters, but if it's something you could run with, get in touch with Dennis and put it to him.
