One of the first things i noticed when we moved back to the area in 98....

Kids walking up and down the street instead of the sidewalks.

I can tell you in the years before we had been moving around the country alot. 4 different states in 5 years.

And we did not see kids walking in the street.....

Done intentionally to grab attention.

Even on the nicest of summer days, I see people using the street for sidewalks and wonder that there aren't more accidents.

Based on the tread title, I thought this was going to be about something else. :)

In some cases, even when they're not covered with snow, it's more difficult/dangerous to walk on the sidewalk due to their poor condition.  But if I'm walking in the street because of this, I make it a point to stay out of the way of traffic.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

When residents do not shovel snow from their sidewalks, other people are inclined to walk in the street.

During the warmer part of the year, I can't understand why teens choose to walk in the exact middle of the street even though sidewalks exist.
