Sounds enlightening, does he chronicle the new found energy wealth?

A Youngstown State University researcher has finished a book that chronicles the rise and fall of the city's attempts at economic recovery.

Frank Akpadock, a senior research associated in the Center for Urban and Regional Studies, authored the book "City in Transition: Strategies for Economic Regeneration of Inner-City Communities, The Case of Youngstown, Ohio."

The book explores the days the steel industry boom and the decomposition of the steel industry in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which caused a massive drop in population.

Akpadock is optimistic in his book. He contends the best times for the city could be in the future.

The book also focuses on how city leaders helped the city's recent surge with the Brownfield Reclamation Project and Youngstown's 2010 Comprehensive Plan.

"I was telling people by writing this book that in life, even in human life, you have the ups and downs, but you don't give up," Akpadock said. "And the city should not be giving up."
