House Republicans will NOT vote on Senate Bill ...

The House of Representatives won't vote on any plans to avert the fiscal cliff on Monday, leaders have told members.

President Barack Obama said earlier in the day that an agreement to avert some of the automatic tax increases and spending cuts appeared to be "within sight," and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said a deal was "very, very close."

There would be little practical difference in settling the issue Monday versus Tuesday, sources said. One exception: If lawmakers approve a bill on Tuesday -- after tax rates have technically gone up -- they can argue they've voted for a tax cut to bring rates back down, GOP sources said.

Does anyone remember The Republican Contract With America that helped them gain control of the House after decades of being the minority party?

That "golden era" came crashing down around them for the very same reason that they find themselves in today, and ironically they, or at least their leaders don't see the handwriting on the wall.

The current House Speaker was in a leadership position back then so one would think that he more than anyone else would realize what is at stake, but unfortunately there are too many of his own party that refuse to take his advice and are willing to throw him under the bus, so when the new Congress comes into session in January, we could very well see a new House Speaker, and a new leadership team radical than the current one.

It's obvious that the Republican's hatred for the President is so deep that they will do whatever it takes to make his last four years impossible, even if it means bringing the United States to it's knees.

In the end, they only have two years to reach their ultimate goal, but if history repeats itself, in the next Congressional election, the backlash will be so great that they will most assuredly find themselves back in the minority for another generation, with little hope of achieving any of their goals, and watching their past victories go down the drain.

The big question facing us right now is the fiscal cliff, and if nothing is resolved, the degree of damage that is done will be a good measure of just how many seats the Republicans will be certain to lose.
