Jane's Carousel Looking a lot better this morning!

"Last night a few photos of Jane's Carousel were circulating on Twitter, showing the carousel, inside of its lit up glass cube, taking on water and quickly becoming an island. The carousel, located at Brooklyn Bridge Park, is in Zone A, and much of that area of DUMBO was flooding as Hurricane Sandy hit New York and the East River started rising.

We went down there to see how things looked this morning, and it seems like the carousel survived! Aside from some tossed over trash cans and puddles inside of the cube, no major damage could be seen."

  A piece of Mahoning Valley history, now in New York City, was in the storm's path. Jane's Carousel, the 1922 Philadelphia Toboggan Co. model that once sat in Youngstown's Idora Park, is located in Brooklyn Bridge Park along the East River.
The carousel is housed in an clear acrylic, square pavilion that is 72 feet on each wall with a 26-foot-high ceiling. Photos posted online Monday night showed water surrounding the pavilion. It was unclear Monday night how much, if any, damage was done.

The Idora Park Carousel is feeling the impact Sandy first-hand.

Water has surrounded the clear acrylic pavilion where the carousel stands in Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City.

Last September, the carousel opened in the park after 20 years of restoration. Dave and Jane Walentas bought the carousel when Idora Park closed in 1984.

The ride is now called Jane's Carousel.

The question is, since it is inside a pavilion is the pavilion taking on water? The story doesn't say one way or the other.

I just saw a photo on the WFMJ News.  The carousel area was flooded by the storm surge.

I thought I heard something about the Idora Carousel mentioned on the news this morning.  Did the carousel, now located in Brooklyn,  survive the rath of Hurricane Sandy?
