Niles Middle School DestiNation ImagiNation® team  Going to Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee    Niles Middle School is pleased to announce that our school will proudly send the DestiNation ImagiNation® team to the Global Finals competition in Knoxville, Tennessee from May 23-26, 2012. Our team, comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th graders, took 1st place in the State of Ohio Tournament to be the State Champions for 2011-2012. The team of 6 now qualifies for the opportunity to compete with thousands students from all across the United States and more than 30 countries, including teams from China, Turkey, Brazil, UK, Mexico, and Russia.   The Niles Middle School DestiNation ImagiNation® team will be holding a number of fundraisers and is asking for help from the community to raise the monies needed by May 18, 2012. The team needs to raise $5,080.00, which covers housing and all meals while the team is at the competition.     On Saturday May 12 and Sunday May 13, 2012 the team will be at the Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall Complex, where they will be selling raffle tickets for various gift baskets and tickets to see country western singer Eric Church.   Niles Destination Imagination has been active for eleven years. Teams from Niles have gone to the Ohio State Tournament nearly every year since the program began. This year's team will be the 5th team of students from our district to make it to Global Finals, where we will represent the state of Ohio in the world-wide competition.    Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and are required to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the challenge. This year's team competed in the improvisational challenge at the middle school level. This challenge focused on current events across the world and in the United States. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and create unique approaches to problem solving. Students come out of the program with teamwork and leadership skills, more confidence, and the ability to think on their feet.   For further information or to help the team in any way, please contact Beverly Begalla or Sam Reigle at Niles Middle School, 330-652-5656.   The gallery is located next to Daffin's Candies, along the concourse between Macy's and Sear's. Gallery hours are Friday 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday 1:00pm to 9:00pm, and Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm. The gallery is free and open to the public.
