Parking Meters "May" Come To Downtown Youngstown

Is't it amazing how quickly the city jumped to "solve" this problem, especially when it means revenue for the city.  If they would only jump on our other problems with such fervor.

The meter posts are now in place.

According to the councilwoman, the new parking rate will be

$1/Hour

They do however; people simply move there cara from spot to spot now to make the chalk useless.

The city already employs two people to regulate parking by marking tires and issuing tickets.  Why not have these same two people mark the tires every hour on West Federal between Phelps and Market?

   Would that mean bringing back Meter Maids with yellow chock to police the meters?

Would 13 or 14 meters be enough, or is this just a test with more to come so that there are parking meters all along Federal Street including East Federal Street?

As far as some lazy louts whining about having to walk a block or two being inconvient, tough! The exercise would do them good!

There is a story in today's newspaper about the need to install parking meters on West Federal Sreet between Phelps and Market.  The meters are being installed because downtown employees are using the parking for long periods of time and thus making the spaces unavailable for business customers.  A vote to go ahead with the parking meter installation will be taken by Youngstown City Council on March 7.

Question
If council hasn't decided to install the parking meters, why have all the meter holes already been drilled into the sidewalks along West Federal?
