That's right you named them correctly

The J. C. Penny store was on West Federal Street near the Warner Theater and on the same side of the street
The G. M. McKelvey Co. was a couple of stores down the street.
Strouss Hershburg was near the Square
Sears Robuck was on the corner of Market and Boardman across from the County Court House
The Central Store was on the corner of Champion and East Federal Street
Klines was in the middle of the block between Champion and Walnut on East Federal

McKelveys, Strouss Hurshburg, and the Central Store dated back to the late 1800's and early 1900's

The Central Store was noted for it's hour long specials, and in its newspaper ads it would feature the face of a clock pointing to the time the specials would be in effect.

Try reading Richard Scarsella's chapter (pp. 41-42) in Memories and Melancholy: Reflections on
the Mahoning Valley and Youngstown, Ohio.
The list includes McKelvey's, Strouss-Hirschberg, The Central Store, Klein's Department Store,
Sears, Roebuck, and Company, and Penney's.

Golly gee bim, do you mean that noone can answer this simple quiz?

Towntalk

In 1952 downtown Youngstown had 6 major department stores. Name all 6 using the correct name for the time line please. If you use a later name it will not count as a correct answer.
