Let's Stop Dirty Conservative Fracking In Ohio!

How dare we use the capitalist system that has served us so well for the past 300 years to help solve an energy supply problem!  We all know that energy can only be suplied if it is a money losing proposition propped up by the government! Silly businessmen!

Right now greedy energy companies are putting profits ahead of Ohio's water supply, purchasing mineral rights in Ohio so that they can begin horizontal fracking for natural gas. We need to stop this land grab before it's too late. Send your state lawmakers an email today and tell them to ban horizontal fracking in Ohio.

Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, is a technique used to drill for natural gas in dense shale rock formations. It is water-intensive and requires a cocktail of sand and chemicals that are linked to cancer and other health issues. Fracking had been previously touted as the solution to our energy woes that would "deliver big profits." But The New York Times just released emails from industry insiders saying that shale gas fracking is "inherently unprofitable" and "reminds you of dot-coms" or "giant ponzi-schemes." We need to protect our water before "these corporate giants [have] an Enron moment."

There have been big problems in other states where fracking is prevalent, including Pennsylvania, New York and Texas. Residents have seen flames explode from their kitchen taps, livestock dying from tainted water, and 24-hour-a-day truck traffic. People have complained of blackouts, headaches and foul air. In Wise County, Texas, properties with gas wells have lost 75 percent of their value. And workers are often flown in from out-of-state to work the wells.

To protect Ohio and our water, we need to stop the rush for natural gas and ban fracking. Write your lawmakers today and urge them to take action to ban fracking in Ohio.
