Plain Township bans horizontal fracking

fracturing.  THey're joining Hartville, Yellow Springs, and Monroe Falls



in taking legislative action. You're seeing Ohio starting to fight back.





So the good news is that our strategy of training local organizers to

push for local legislation is paying off, and we know of other bans in



the works across Ohio.  Each time a ban is passed it makes it that much

easier for the next organizer to ask "why isn't it important for US to



protect our health, land, and water?"





But the not so good news is that there are about 40 new permitted wells,

and many have begun drilling, or are about to begin drilling.  ODNR is



fast-tracking the permit application (sometimes taking as little as 7

days) and well pads are being erected every minute I write this email.



So now is the time for action.  Build local power to pass more



resolutions, and now you can site Ohio examples of towns proactively

protecting their citizens.  If you know of any new drilling activity



going on in or near a park, or on city owned property, or where folks

have been pooled against their will by a drilling company, please let me



know so that we start seeing public demonstrations that catch national

media attention.



And let your local and state representatives know about these townships



leading the way.





Let's join the people of Plain Township in saying NO to unsafe,

unregulated, and insane drilling.
