Last week, Speaker John Boehner, Leader Eric Cantor, and the House Republicans forced through a budget bill that reflects their political priorities.

Rather than focus on real solutions that will help fix our economy and create jobs, Republican leaders used the budget process to attack programs – clean water, consumer safety, and health care protections – that don't fit within their ideology.

That's why Families USA is standing with other progressive organizations to push back against these reckless funding cuts and demand real solutions for struggling American families.

It's time to tell right-wing ideologues to get their priorities in order.

As the events in Wisconsin show us, these budget fights aren't really about reducing deficits, they're about attacking progressive priorities and imposing right-wing politics. Here's what Republicans are hoping to cut from the budget:

EPA funding to help regulate pollutants, which ensures we all have clean air to breathe;
Consumer protection funding, which ensures toys for children don't contain harmful chemicals;
Women's health funding, which helps Planned Parenthood provide health services for thousands of women across the country; and of course
Funding to implement the Affordable Care Act.
These cuts are part of a broader agenda to repeal protections that are making a difference for millions of Americans. If opponents are successful at repealing the Affordable Care Act, we'd all lose vital health care protections like access to affordable prescription drugs for seniors, peace of mind that lets children stay on their parents' health plans until age 26, and access to quality, affordable coverage even if you have a pre-existing condition.

Don't let Republicans put politics before people.
