Orientation Sessions for the YPD Exam

Wednesday, January 5

First Session
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
at the McGuffey Center
Jacobs Road

Second Session
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Mill Creek Community Center
496 Glenwood Avenue


The actual exam will be given on Saturday, February 5, 2011.

These sessions are an attempt to create a diverse pool of applicants for the police positions.
After the exam, the list will be good for a period of two years.

This issue was discussed on the afternoon radio talk show today.  Many feel that the reduced emphasis on the written portion of the test is a dumbing down of the YPD.

I agree with that assessment. The physical portion is important but they are cutting the importance of the written portion because minorities and women have scored lower than white males? Sorry about that. Standards should be kept regardless of skin color or gender.
