Title: Memories of Christmas Past
Post by: Towntalk on December 21, 2010, 09:13:12 AM
For some unexplainable reason that only a child can understand, Christmas Present has nothing over Christmas Past.

Whether it's the sounds of tinkling bells on every street corner, or the sounds of Choirs singing Christmas songs on the town square beside the glittering Christmas Tree, or the brightly lit store windows beckoning to us to come in, or the Volunteers of America Santa standing there beside his artificial chimney, or the Salvation Army band, it's just not the same.

The wonders of the season have been lost, and like so many robots we go about our business mindless of the true meaning of the day itself and all the magic it possesses.

Oh we put on a show of possessing the Christmas spirit, but somehow it's just not the same. For all too many, it's just another day.

Too many Grenches have taken over the day and stripped it of all its meaning. We pay lip service to the day to be polite, but carry with it little heart felt meaning.

We can't turn back the clock to those day's of yore when Christmas time was truly special, but why can't we just take a moment to ponder on why we celebrate the day and remember, if just for a moment it's true meaning?
