I mentioned the parade to several downtown eateries. The managers did not know anything about it.
I always thought it would be a good idea for downtown businesses to be in the parade and also pass out some type of coupon for their business.
I miss the old time local Thanksgiving Day Parades, and wish that one could have been organized. Strouss use to sponsor the local parade, but since all the department stores in town closed, what parades there were after Strouss fizzled and were dropped. Such a shame. No, its downright sad. Those old parades were magnificant.
A full throated Thanksgiving Day parade takes months to organize and a lot of money, and I doubt that all the downtown restaurants could pool enough money to pull one off, and the large stores at the malls would be needed as key sponsors.
jrs can a float represent santas around the world?
If Ursuline wins the Division V state championship on Saturday, is there any chance of getting the team in the Christmas parade?
I realize it would be very short notice.
Look at the "Years Ago" photo in the newpaper this weekend. About 50,000 people came out to watch the Christmas Parade.
Times have changed.
