Post by: jay on June 06, 2010, 05:44:50 AM
On Saturday, the Pride Festival was held on West Federal Street.  Various vendors lined the two blocks from Central Square to Hazel Street.

A stage for performances was placed at the corner of West Federal and North Phelps.

A local radio talk show host is upset because the events coordinator promoted the Pride Festival in the same email that contained the StreetScape planting information.

the email was intended to promote the events for that particular day. http://community.icontact.com/p/youngstownevents/newsletters/ytown/posts/cityscape-pride-this-weekend-in-downtown-youngstown (http://community.icontact.com/p/youngstownevents/newsletters/ytown/posts/cityscape-pride-this-weekend-in-downtown-youngstown) I received no calls or email from local radio show hosts either Jay.

Both events were extremely successful.

Both events appeared to be well attended.  StreetScape took place in the morning and the Pride Festival took place in the afternoon.

Both were downtown events that should have been publicized.
Just be aware that a talk show host may make this an issue.

From the link that Lynds posted I can see where it could be misunderstood that the 2 events were connected.

dan rivers was interviewing people all morning long mixing opinions with both events. what is the big deal that if each event promotes one another. is this not a positive message that would make the mahoning valley a progessive area to live in and make a living in during your life time?
