Does anyone have more information about the YPD Knock and Talk program?
It's my understanding that the method is employed when someone reports a suspected drug house. Police visit the house and ask to be invited in for a talk. If the resident refuses to grant entry, the YPD then frequently places a cruiser outside the house to scare the "customers" away.
JRS talked about it at the block watch meetings. I do not know if they started doing it. I know the cruisers park next to each other alot and talk, if that counts..
Selling drugs is only one item on a very long list of reasons that some one may not allow unexpected visitors in for a talk.
Is the "frequently placed cruiser" manned? Could the cruiser and/or patrolman be better used somewhere else?
Is this really a good use of resources?
