Title: Detroit wants to save itself by shrinking - very much like Youngstown 2010 Plan
Post by: AllanY2525 on March 09, 2010, 09:34:13 AM
Yahoo news posted this article today about Detroit, MI and the effort
that is underway to "downsize" the city in order to save it from blight,
abandonment and decay.

Their plan is very much like Youngstown's 2010 initiative, but will be on a
massive scale if it becomes a reality.  The article states that the amount of
land that will be cleared of houses, buildings, etc would be larger than the
entire area of the city of Youngstown !

Allan, In other past news, a significant Detroit businessman is pumping billions into buying and converting a lot of the vacant parcels into aquaculture.

Same problems as Youngstown, for pretty much the same reasons - just on a
proportionately larger scale...
