Jay - Is this dam in Girard or Youngstown?  I remember reading something on
the internet several months ago about the cleanup of the Mahoning river.
The article stated that roughly 60% of all the contaminants at the bottom
of the river are directly behind the "lower Girard dam".

The dam in question is located north of Warren, Ohio.   Another small Mahoning River dam was removed last year in Trumbull County.

Jay,

Thanks for clarifying - I know that there are several "low-rise" dams
along the Mahoning River which were built by the steel industry in
the valley over the years.

Have you heard anything recently about the Mahoning River cleanup
project that was supposed to be taken on by the Army Corps of
Engineers?

I remember reading an article last year that said the cleanup project
was subsidized by the federal government and that it would be
completed sometime around the year 2017.
