Title: We Should Have An Icicle Festival In Downtown Youngstown
Post by: jay on February 15, 2010, 06:26:53 AM
Lynds and Forum Members

We should have an Icicle Festival in downtown Youngstown.  After all, we should celebrate these wonderful forms of ice art that nature has given us this year.  Residents could bring their icicles to downtown Youngstown where they could be placed on display and judged.

Suggested prize categories.

Longest icicle
Most unusual shape
Best tapered icicle
Etc.

Pretty dangerous Jay. Trying to knock down icicles has historically been known as one of the most dangerous things a person could do. It only leads to other icicles falling without warning and huge chunks of snow/ice falling from the roof. People have had to go to the hospital for injuries trying to knock them down.

Scratch that idea then.

How about a Snow Sculpting Festival?
There are already tons of snow in downtown Youngstown.  All we need is creative people to sculpt it.

All flash and no cash!  Talk , talk, talk and no action.

Lynds and us are starting a "Youngstown Shrimp Festival 2010" this year and many of the downtown restaurants are going to participate.  But, has anyone from this site or downtown activist offered to help?   No, everyone's busy trying to write a grant or figure out how to suck up money from our broke Uncle Sam.
