Title: Columbus Day - Why No Bus Service?
Post by: jay on October 12, 2009, 09:31:33 AM
To me, Columbus Day is a minor holiday.
Most people are working today and some of those same people need public transportation to get back and forth to work.  The WRTA should be operating today.

It's because they are funded primarily by tax dollars.

If they actually got their money from paying customers, you could bet your @$$ they'd be running today.

As far as I know, every transportation system in the US is at least partially subsidized with tax dollars.

the other minor holidays are veterans' day, president's day, martin luther king day. these holidays are days off for  some government employees. most of the country's population work on these days so the mass transit should run too.  :o
