TV-21 is reporting that there is a large fire near Indianola and Erie Street on the south side of Youngstown.
What building is involved?
If anyone get pictures, please post them.
Banner Supply warehouse.
That's not good, Banners is a well established and respected company on the South Side.
I saw it on the way to YSU this morning at 7:30am. I thought it was a cloud at first, but then I saw the THICK black smoke coming from the South Side. I saw it still burning at 1pm.
I passed the Indianola fire station just as they were pulling out to respond to the fire this morning at 7:00. This evening still, the air smells like burning tar here on the south side. Probably not good for people with sensitive respiratory problems.
I was called by a friend at 7:05 this morning about the fire. I was on scene taking photos till about 8:45. I am working on uploading some videos to youtube, processing digital camera photos to put up on youngstownfire.com and I'm going to see if I can put all the scanner audio up on youngstownfire.com from this fire. I was only about 10 blocks away and the fireground traffic was loud and clear!
The part of the building outlines in red was the extent of the fire. Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading into the main office and showroom (Building 1,2 and 3) and the #5 building.
I just put a video up on youtube... It might take a few minutes to finish processing.

Rick,
Hats off to you and the Y.F.D. for containing the fire and saving the
rest of the buildings - firemen are often overlooked, or taken for granted
and yet they CONSISTENTLY earn their keep while risking their own safety
to help others.
:)
If I remember right that was the building where mostly Roofing material was kept.
