Title: Amtrak Train Through Columbiana County Canceled
Post by: jay on February 05, 2023, 07:31:19 PM
I'm pretty sure Amtrak's Capitol Limited train that runs through Columbiana County has been canceled.  The train uses the same tracks in East Palestine on which the fiery train accident took place Friday evening.

This rail line in East Palestine is still closed.  The line is the main connector between Cleveland and Pittsburg.

Question

Has normal rail traffic between these two cities been rerouted?  If so, what is the new route?

I just watched the Governor DeWine press conference.  At 3:30 p.m. today. Feb. 6, the railroad officials are going to use a small, shaped charge to punch a small hole in the tank car(s).  The liquid should flow out of the tank car, into a ditch and then into a pit.   The liquid in the pit will undergo a controlled burn.

These tracks will not be used again for several days.
