Title: A Way Trash Disposal Fees Will Increase Today
Post by: jay on December 17, 2020, 08:15:50 AM
On the west side most people placed their trash totes to the curb last evening.  By morning, the tops of every trash tote was covered with about 4 inches of snow.

I'm sure when the trash truck comes, the snow will be hoisted into the truck and dumped.  At several pounds of snow per tote, probably several tons of snow will be shipped to the landfill.  I don't know how much the city pays per ton for trash disposal.  The city will be billed for tons of snow in addition to the tons of trash.

I actually saw some of the totes picked up today.  I'm pleased to report that the lifting arm of the truck usually bumped the tote hard enough that most of the snow was knocked off.  If the snow was wet or frozen, I don't think the snow would have been fallen off as easily.
