While voting is highly respected and needed, it should only be done by people that have studied the issues and candidates.

No one should be like my grandmother was. She would vote for whoever handed her the best pencil, notepad, plastic babushka, or whatever it was that she liked the most. Sometimes she would ask for a second or third to give to family members and/or friends so they would vote that way too.

Thanks grandma! I can't wait until candidate X gets in office! Hopefully I'll get another nail file when he runs again.

When I voted today, one candidate's supporters handed out chocolate covered pretzels.

Did it cause you to vote for that candidate?

If so, I'll probably refer to you as Grandpa Jay from now on.

If receiving the candy didn't alter your vote you will remain Jay.

Either way if you talked them into giving you more, I hope you saved one for me.
