Title: Volunteers Needed For The West Side Library
Post by: jay on June 12, 2009, 07:41:12 AM
A block watch has suggested a new proposal to reduce costs at the West Side Library.  The idea would encourage volunteers to perform many of the library's chores.  The tasks would include cutting the grass, cleaning the building, doing simple repairs,  removing snow in the winter, stocking bookshelves, and answering the phone.  This would also be a good opportunity for senior citizens to help.

The Mahoning Valley Green Party will offer volunteer services.....

Will any of our "conservative" board readers and posters here do the same?

I suggest weekly Wednseday West Side Library Protest Days for the next two
months.....in front of the library....

Maybe we can hold out donation cans at the traffic light to help raise money...

like when the firefighters stand in the middle of the street collecting for Jerry's Kids.....

I would hope the union would see the big picture of people losing their jobs.  It would also depend on the library's accident insurance and if they would be willing to have an attorney draw up papers for volunteers that would release all liability for them to work there.  There are many people who would be willing if it would help keep the branch open.
