After a series of burglaries on the north side, one neighborhood block watch is asking its members to consider hiring someone to house sit while away on vacation.
Homes recently hit had the alarm systems disconnected by the burglars.
I've had problems with people cutting the phone line over on
Woodbine Avenue, but I have a wireless backup on my ADT
system.
I just found out yesterday morning, during a service call, that
the system can be set to go off immediately rather than allowing
30 seconds for the alarm code to be entered.
This makes it impossible to access any of the system's physical
hardware without triggering an alarm.
If you have an ADT system, you might want to have it reprogrammed to
work in this mode.
