Title: On the sweets side
Post by: Towntalk on March 24, 2009, 11:26:07 AM
The recession seems to have a sweet tooth. As unemployment has risen and 401(k)'s have shrunk, Americans, particularly adults, have been consuming growing volumes of candy, from Mary Janes and Tootsie Rolls to Gummy Bears and cheap chocolates, say candy makers, store owners and industry experts.

The New York Times is reporting today that candy stores are noting an increase in sales of candy and particularly the nostalgic candies like Necco Wafers, Mallo Cups, Bit-O-Honey, Tootsie Rolls, chocolate candy bars and Mary Janes in recent months.

Have you noticed an increase in the amount of candy you are consuming?
