Title: Downtown Buildings
Post by: Towntalk on November 28, 2008, 01:11:46 AM
According to this article, CIC is going to try to save the shell of the Kress Building.

Does anyone have any authoritative idea about what they plan for this building?

This is correct. Clean Ohio funding will be used to gut the interior of the building down to the steel structure frame and the exterior will be preserved. The building will then be marketed accordingly (for development purposes for prospective purchasers). I have heard many different possible uses for the building. The one I hear most commonly is further expansion of the tech block.

I'm happy to see the Tech Block project moving forward... this is one of the
industries that can help Youngstown, by generating new high tech jobs
that pay decent salaries.
